Nine kite-flyers from the city-based One India Kite team will represent India in the world kite-flying contest organised by the International Kite Federation at Weifang city in China from April 19 to 26.
The kite-flyers’ team, which will be led by Syam Padman, will have
Abdulla Aliyekkal, Sajid Thoppil, Sundara Murthy, Hashim Kadakalakam,
Anoop K. Francis, Mohammed Ali, Revinderpal Singh and Sandesh Kaddi as
members.

“Three giant kites, made in the form of cat, duck and bear, would compete for the prize this time,” Mr. Abdullakoya said.

Ahead of the world programme, the Kite Flyers’ Association, with the support of the Kozhikode Rotary Club and the Calicut Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will organise a special kite exhibition and live demonstration to showcase the splendour of the pastime for the public on Kozhikode beach from Sunday.
